What Are Zirconia Crowns?

I know you don’t want to be one of those people who wears “plastic teeth”

And you wonder if the zirconia dental crown can really have a completely natural appearance, indistinguishable from the natural adjacent tooth?

In the rest of the text I will explain to you whether it is possible.

What are people afraid of?

We know that many people fear that zirconia dental crown will look too arteficial, that it will be painful, or that the dental treatment will take forever.

Unnatural appearance?

For a beautiful smile, sometimes it is not enough just to make a zirconia dental crown (I will call it a Zr crown for short),
Because appearance and the symmetry of the gums also affect aesthetics.
That is why it is very important that a dental practice has a periodontist specialist.

It is that gentleman or lady who deals with the gums and can do interventions that concern and look at the gums, and we are
proud of our dr Jelena😀

Jelena-Stevanović
Spec. dr. stom. Jelena Stevanović

Of course, no one wants to look like they are wearing “plastic teeth”.

That is why it is very important to choose the right dentist who does not make generic zr crown that scream “I was placed yesterday” and that there are no “porcelain smiles” that clearly say “I paid for this”.

Another major fear is…

Fear of pain?

Yes, that’s the first thought that comes to mind when someone mentions the dentist – pain.

unpleasant feeling at the dentist

What if we told you that zirconia dental crown can be made painlessly?
What if we told you that there are ways and techniques that can make the whole process easier?

And of course you just thought
“Eh, all dentists say that, but…”.

However, it is possible!
First and foremost, today’s dentistry uses very advanced methods that ensure you are completely pain-free throughout the entire process.
Local anesthesia is used, which enables the tooth and the surrounding tissue to be completely numb, so that you do not feel pain.

Ok, you might feel a little pressure or vibration from the tool, but that’s about it.

Often, colleagues grind the tooth deep below the gums, so the zirconia tooth crown ends up deep below the gums, which later results in constant inflammation of the gums. With the right dentist, there will be no pain in the gums after cementing the zr crown because it must not go under the gums!

Long process?

Most patients are surprised when they realize that they expected a much more difficult and lengthy procedure than it actually is.

The thought of having to come to the clinic countless times?

Today it goes quite smoothly, because there are no endless visits to the dentist and waiting in the waiting room while reading outdated magazines. Let’s say that we can complete most treatments in just a couple of visits.

On the first visit, we prepare the teeth and take virtual impressions, and on the second visit, we place the finished Zr crown.

Do you know what bruxism is?

When making Zirconia dental crown, special attention should be paid to the bite.

The problem can arise if the new Zr crown (or crowns) interferes with the bite and proper movement of the lower jaw, i.e. the sliding of the upper and lower teeth (their contact and relationship).

Then the patient may experience grinding or clenching of the teeth (we call this bruxism). Sometimes there are pains in the chewing muscles, and even headaches, although until then there was none of the above.
And that is unfortunately not rare, because few dentists deal with those microns (sometimes it can really be exhausting).

We often have the case of solving pain in patients that they get after having Zr crown placed by some of our colleagues. And the reason is precisely that no care was taken to adjust the zirconia dental crown when biting.

milena-chipping.jpg

This is an example that happened to Milena where we had to intervene.
The crown cracked because the previous dental office did not take care of the bite.

How do we make zirconia dental crown?

So, you’ve decided it’s time to give your smile a new glow – great!
But you’re probably wondering how it all works?

Well, the process of making zr crown is not nearly as complicated as people think. At least with us ☺️.

First step - Online Consultation 👋

It all starts with the first visit.

When you step through the door, we won’t greet you with stern looks and cold instruments like in those movies 😀

Instead, you’ll get a warm smile and a feeling that you’ve arrived at the right place. We will make sure to get to know you and find out what you want to achieve and how we can work together to create a smile that will knock you off your feet.

Of course, we will also do a detailed examination of your teeth
(no worries, completely painless).

There, we will assess the condition of the teeth and determine whether the zr crown are the right solution for you.

Everything will be clearly explained to you, without the “dental speech” that sounds like you’re back in high school chemistry class

Digital print – 3D technology in action! 🦷

Dentists used to use those clumsy molds for tooth impressions (yes, the rubber ones that made you not know where to put your tongue), but we don’t have that here!❌

We use digital prints. This means that you will sit comfortably in the chair, and we will create a digital 3D model of your teeth without any discomfort. This technology allows us to accurately measure all the dimensions and shape of your teeth.

Everything happens quickly, efficiently and without much hassle.

Designing your new smile 😁

Now that we have a “map” of your teeth, we come to the most fun part – designing your new smile! This is where you come to the scene. We talk about what kind of smile you want – natural, bright, subtle, or maybe the “Hollywood” one.

You read that right, we really can make a Hollywood smile!

There is no “one size fits all” here. Everything is done according to you, your face and your style.

Making a temporary crown 🦷

After preparing the teeth, you will receive a temporary crown.
Don’t worry, it’s only there until your final version arrives. The temporary crown looks good enough that no one will notice the difference, and you are free to go about your daily life, eating, talking and laughing as you always have.

Even if you don`t live in Serbia or due to bite correction you should wear theese temporaries a bit longer, don`t worry! You can completely rely on them. They look and function like a natural tooth.

Placing the final zirconia dental crown – the moment of truth!

There are no improvisations here. Everything is made with micrometer precision, to ensure that the zr crown fits perfectly on your tooth, without any discomfort. After we place it, the mirror follows and… voilà! A new smile, new energy and a new level of confidence!
Time for a smile – and not just any smile!

Zirconia Crown Price in Serbia

Eh, we have come to the question that everyone is interested in – the price.
Of course we understand that! Nobody likes surprises when it comes to expenses.

To be honest, zirconia crown price can vary depending on several factors, but let’s explain why.

First and foremost, you won’t get a generic zirconia dental crown that looks like it came straight off the assembly line. We will create zr crown that is customized to your smile, perfectly crafted to look natural, comfortable and long-lasting. And when we say long-lasting, we mean you’ll wear them for years and years without any issues. But that`s why we need to invest time, patience and money while producing them.

So it’s not just an immediate cost, but a long-term investment in your smile. If you think more wisely, we use our teeth every day and the zr crown will serve us both for chewing and for a beautiful smile all day long, for about the next 10 years.
When the zirconia crown cost is looked at in this way, we come to the conclusion that the zr crown is really cheap. Much cheaper than the clothes we buy or car maintenance. Would you agree with us?

What affects the zirconia crown cost?

Here are some factors that can affect the final price:

  • Crown material: Do you want porcelain e max crowns (which are so natural that even you won’t know where your tooth ends and the crown begins) or zirconium, which is extremely strong and perfect for those who want a smile that can withstand even the hardest apples ?
  • Number of zirconium oxide dental crowns: If you only need one crown for one tooth, the price is lower than if you want to “refresh” the entire smile. In any case, everything is a matter of agreement.
  • Complexity of the procedure: If your tooth requires additional preparation before placing the zirconia dental crown, this may slightly increase the price. But don’t worry, we’ll explain everything to you clearly in advance – there are no hidden costs or surprises with us!

Zirconia crown price also depends on the technology in the producing process. Instead of uncomfortable impressions, we use intraoral scanners, printers and milling machines in the production of zr crowns. This modern and very precise technology significantly affects the zirconia crown price.
In some clinics around the world there is different price for crowns on back and on front teeth.
It is not the case in our clinic in Belgrade. The zirconia crown price is the same regardless of whether it is a lateral or front tooth.

Come to discuss and come up with a plan that fits your budget. Because a perfect smile is something worth investing in – and stress-free! 😊

What else can affect a zirconia crown cost?

We have to explain to you that the most demanding treatment with zr crown is the production of one crown on the front tooth, which we have to aesthetically fit in with the rest of the natural teeth. Because natural tooth has a million colors that need to be copied, it is a big effort to make a zr crown without seeing the difference.

Although it is a demanding treatment, of course we can achieve it, but we need significantly more time compared to the crowns that we do on the entire teeth. Therefore, zirconia crown cost of this kind is higher per crown than when you make all front crowns.

And for all of you who do not live in Serbia, we have very good news – in our clinic you can get beautiful smiles at significantly lower prices compared to Europe, America, Australia.
The zirconia crown price in our clinic is around 400 to 700 euros, while in the countries of Western Europe it is around 1500 euros and more. For example, in Canada alone, the zirconia crown price is 8 to 10 times higher than here. Don’t worry about the quality of dental work and a beautiful smile, we are at the very top of world dentistry in terms of qualifications. Our dental practice, with almost the same composition of doctors, has existed for 17 years, which is a reliable sign that our system works very well and that we are followed by a large number of satisfied patients.

And not only will you get the smile of your dreams, but you will have a great vacation and time here in Belgrade (the capital city of Serbia). And the best part, you will also save tens of thousands of euros. And when you smile, your friends will be a little jealous of you 😊

You are probably wondering why the zirconia crown cost in Serbia is low compared to the mentioned countries and continents. Well, because we are a small country. Although so small, we have a very good educational system at the university. Our doctors, with their knowledge, skills and technology, stand side by side with the dentists of the world. We have made sure of that many times. You can be completely safe in our hands. You will receive very high-quality dental services at significantly lower prices – a winning combination for you.

And you need to know, we are not a clinic that deals with the often seen dental tourism – a large number of patients in too short time interval, possibly with a lot of mistakes, straight, white and not so attractive teeth.

Although we help and are responsible for the organization of your arrival, accommodation and general logistics, we provide high-quality, detailed, individual dental services. For this reason, we are unable to receive many patients at once. Because your smile deserves quality and commitment. It is in the interest of all of us that your new teeth function perfectly and that there are no complaints.

If you would like to know more about zirconia tooth crown and all ceramic systems in general, you can read the text below.
Many terms are used on the market to describe zirconia tooth crown, such as zirconium dioxide crown, zirconium oxide crown and similar. You should know that these are all expressions for – zirconia dental crown.

There are many reasons why zirconia tooth crown is gold standard in every dental practice today.
Let me explain what you as a patient need to know about them:
Each dental crown actually has one goal, which is to restore severely broken or weakened teeth. With such teeth, it is no longer possible to make a filling, or such a filling would bring more harm than good.

That’s when the zirconium oxide crown comes into play, which replaces the tooth, according to all the principles that nature created a natural tooth.

What do you think is important when making a zirconium oxide crown?

Well, it’s not just a process in the sense of – ok I need a crown, the dentist grinds down the tooth a bit, makes a crown and it should last for many years and not cause any problems. Actually, it is, but only with a dentist who knows what he or she is doing. Otherwise, if the dentist is not careful enough and if it is a crown made without great care, there could be big problems.

The zirconia tooth crown, just like the filling, must have an optimally firm contact with the adjacent teeth, to imitate the contacts between natural teeth. This is checked with dental floss, which, when pulled through, must hear a “click”. If there is no click (contact), or it is too weak, food will accumulate around the crown, which will eventually lead to the formation of a periodontal pocket. Unfortunately, the bone in the periodontal pocket will be permanently destroyed and there are not many techniques that can replace it.

Another very important thing is that the zirconium oxide crown has the same shape as a natural tooth, because nature gave us this shape for a reason.

Another thing is that its biting surface should not be flat. It should have cusps and depressions (fissures), which help us to cut food better compared to flat surfaces. The contacts of the crown with the teeth in the opposite jaw should be absolutely aligned, otherwise they can lead to cracking of the crown, spontaneous dying of the nerve in the tooth, infection, tooth movement, etc.

I assume you have heard or maybe you even suffer from bruxism – conscious or unconscious teeth grinding. And do you know that it can be caused by an inadequate zirconium dioxide crown? Micron disturbances of individual crowns, and especially when all the teeth are under the crowns, can cause grinding that you may not have had before the dental intervention.  Read more about bruxism HERE.
Believe it or not, due to the excessively strong force that an inadequate crown can cause, the root of the tooth can break, after which the tooth often has to be extracted.

You don`t need to worry about anything of that when you are in Queen dental clinic – we take care of every micron. This is also the reason why we are not the fastest and cheapest clinic in town when it`s about making zirconia tooth crown. But our crown will really last and serve you for years without any problems.

I believe that you wonder in which situations we can place zirconium dioxide crown and when we can do some other crown material.

Well let`s find out.

When we say zirconia tooth crown, we usually think of back teeth and restoration for functional reasons. Today, however, we have more and more requests for placing crowns on the front teeth as well, in order to beautify the smile. Zirconia tooth crown can be placed on the front teeth, but the lithium disilicate E max crown LINK will provide a significantly better aesthetic effect.

Today’s zr crown is a standard procedure in the practice. We use it in All on 4 and All on 6 LINK procedures, and with it we can achieve an absolutely natural smile, so that no one around can notice that these are false teeth.

Yes, you read that right, even people who don’t have their own teeth can have a Hollywood smile that looks completely natural. And all thanks to our dedicated Dr. Mirela Cvjetković and of course the zirconium oxide crown

Mirela Cvjetkovic
Dr. Mirela Cvjetković

And guess what, these works are permanent, crowns once done do not change their shape or color in  the mouth. They are smooth, glazed and very comfortable to wear.

Sometimes, in countries where dental services are expensive, people choose less quality materials compared to zirconium dioxide crown. This is because such crown is very expensive and inaccessible to most people. But you don’t need to worry about that because zr crown is available for everyone in our practice. You get top quality for a significantly lower price.

Are you worried that the dentist will see your situation and wishes differently than you do?
When we talk about aesthetics, it is important to know that in Queen clinic you will get the zirconium dioxide crown exactly as you wanted. We hear your wishes and it cannot happen that you desire one thing and we provide another. Because together with us you participate in the entire process of work with your suggestions, remarks and wishes.
We are able to do both straight, white zirconium oxide crown or completely natural with all the yellowish shades. The smiles we produce are not standardized, but extremely individual, made to suit you, your face shape, lips, skin color and, of course, your wishes.
And what else? With our zr crown, you will not stutter in speech, you will be able to pronounce all sounds normally – precisely because we take into account every micron.
